The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve In the Kansas Flint Hills, nearly 11,000 acres are maintained by the National Park Service and the Nature Conservancy. Visitors may tour the three-story barn, the limestone ranch house and walk through the six-foot-high tallgrass prairie. A bus tour that winds through the hills is a great way to experience the open range and learn about the prairie ecosystem. The Preserve is located two miles north of Strong City on Kansas Highway 177. Admission to the park is free. The 90-minute bus tour has a fee. 620-273-8494
